Segments 5 & 6: Downtown and Circulator Loop
Segments 5 and 6 are in downtown Atlanta. Plans for these parts of the Corridor would accommodate residents, office workers and the millions of visitors who come to Atlanta.
The Downtown segment (1.95 miles) will lead into the heart of the city. The Circulator Loop (2.35 miles) will connect the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), Georgia Aquarium, Martin Luther King District, and the BeltLine. Both segments are ready for streetcar implementation, with few curb cuts and conflict points, particularly in Segment 5.
The Downtown Improvement District is currently working on streetscape plans and has recently made a major investment in new directional signs. As in Midtown (Segment 4), Segment 5 parallels the MARTA rail line, which is mostly underground.
