In developing a vision for a “great street” for our city, Atlanta leaders consulted many resources and explored how other cities developed destination boulevards. We have compiled some resources here for your exploration, as well as the reports from the Peachtree Task Force committees.

Recently released documents


A summary of the Partnership's outreach activities (since 2005) was released March 17, 2008. Download the summary (PDF 51k)

Peachtree Corridor Task Force reports


Collectively, these documents are the equivalent of the final Task Force report.

Executive Summary (9 MB). A 49-page overview of all recommendations.

Business Plan (3 MB). A 63-slide PowerPoint deck in .pdf format, offering an excellent overview of the need for the Corridor project.

Planning/Design and Mobility Report (14 MB). A 192-page report of two groups, the Mobility Committee and the Planning & Design Committee.

Land Use and Zoning (7 MB). A 69-page report of the Land Use and Zoning Committee.

Housing Choice (280K). A 19-page report on housing and population trends and other related issues.

Finance (2.5 MB). A 176-page cost/benefit analysis of the Corridor project, prepared by the Finance Committee.

Trends Analysis (1 MB). A 76-page report of 20-year development, population and employment trends in the Peachtree Corridor (from 2000 to 2020). Prepared by the Bleakly  Advisory Group.

Public Opinion Survey (4.8 MB). A 466-page report of findings from a survey conducted by Ayres McHenry & Associates.

Government Sites
APTA Streetcar and Heritage Trolley Site. This is the streetcar website for the American Public Transportation Association. Both modern and heritage streetcars are covered.

National Transit Database. This site has links to federal transit studies of all kinds.

Atlanta Web Sites
The BeltLine Partnership. This site is an excellent resource on the proposed greenbelt and transit project that will encircle Atlanta.

Citizens for Progressive Transit.
The Web site of Atlanta's grassroots transit advocacy organization.

Modern Streetcar Systems in the U.S.
Portland Streetcar. The official site of the Portland Streetcar, a modern streetcar much like the one proposed for Atlanta's Peachtree Corridor.

Seattle Streetcar. Another modern streetcar, also in the Pacific Northwest.

South Lake Union Streetcar. The official site of the new streetcar in Seattle.

Tacoma Link Light Rail. The website for Tacoma's Link light rail, which uses streetcar technology.

Public Transportation Think Tanks
Victoria Transport Policy Institute. This is an independent research organization dedicated to developing innovative and practical solutions to transportation problems.

Center for Transportation Excellence. This is a clearinghouse for information in support of quality transportation choices.

Reconnecting America. This site advocates for reconnecting American homes to places of work and play through transit oriented development.

Great Streets Sites
Visualizing Density. This site provides visual aids for understanding urban and suburban density.

Complete the Streets. This site advocates for "complete streets," which are designed and operated to provide safe access to all users.

Walkable Communities.
A website that provides help for people who want to make their communities more pedestrian friendly.
